Alright, this took too long to do (and decide sort of on colors that would be reasonably accessible). Here are a few options that are CSS only (I can provide Stylus link code in a bit).

Some extra details are available in the image descriptions; namely two of them, to look good, only work in Firefox with the :has pseudo-attribute enabled.
