Yea. I have been genuinely wrestling with that last idea for some time now, "we've already tried representative democracy and it failed". I don't know if it is inherently destined to weaken or if it is being deliberately compromised and weakened by external ideologies. In a similar way I also struggle to understand if a truly free market economy could be sustained if at the same time there were state directed economies in existence at the same time.
