Here's a new ladybird arrival to New Zealand. A user of #iNaturalist NZ, mikefishnz, was passing through Cheviot in North Canterbury this month and photographed a ladybird. It's been identified on iNaturalist and then by Biosecurity NZ as the Spotted Amber Ladybird Beetle, Hippodamia variegata, a NZ first.
This is a native of the Palearctic, already established in Australia. Keep an eye out for it over the #CityNatureChallenge.
