There’s no music content on the World Service any more, and precious little on Radio 4 (Desert Island Discs, etc, but that’s about it). It’s really, really hard (and expensive) to properly square off music licensing. The record companies appear to turn a blind eye to out-of-country streaming as long as you’re not earning money from it, but as soon as you are, they jump at you. (I was resisting the US record companies coming after me when I worked at Virgin Radio in the UK).

I happen to believe that BBC World News should be as available as BBC World Service is - free, everywhere, in as many places as possible. You can only stream it in the BBC app in the US and Australia, it appears. That seems a mistake.
