On July 14, 1930, the first dramatic program ever televised in the United Kingdom was broadcast by the BBC: an adaptation of Luigi Pirandello’s 1922 play “The Man With the Flower in His Mouth,” broadcast using the pioneering mechanical television system of Scottish inventor John Logie Baird.
In 1970, the BBC reunited the cast and crew of that broadcast, all but one of whom were still alive, to recreate their performance using copies of the original equipment.
