badbron on Nostr: is there anyway to stop the profit-motivated product and service economy ...
is there anyway to stop the profit-motivated product and service economy transformating into the rent-based middleman economy with a annual/monthly/weekly subscription model that is very quickly becoming the primary EVERYTHING in EVERY feature of life in the 'collective west'? is there a even a chance of this NOT happening? is there even a way to reverse the damage and trajectory?
any PC work software (office, adobe, etc)
any entertainment software (movies netflix&co, music spotify&co, video games microsoft&co)
postal services (weary emoji)
food access, grocery access,
tech gadgets (monthly headphone subscription, montly IPhone subscription to get a "free" new iphone annually)
clothes (subscription based cars)
cars
printers (printify)
finding a fuck partner software
ideally NOT finding a life partner through software, as a cure is worse than a treatment; a painkiller is worse than the vitamins; the money 10X-d through subscription models is better than a one time sale.
DO NOT GOOGLE "BUMP BOXES"
and the fucking feature of SHOPPING INSIDE SOCIAL MEDIA, oh god
youll pay more for the middle man, get less service, the actual product/service provider gets less. no, not "youll pay", you already do pay
somehow its okay though, BUT ITS NOT AAA
i dont like what has happened, i dont like whats happening, i dont like whats going to be happening
i dont like technofeudalism
i dont like how the term to describe this is made by one of the MOST RETARDED communists from greece
the people who recognize whats happening, offer their solution, and the solution isnt "lets take a few steps back and put in something to break this apart what were doing, find a compromise that doesnt have this insanity power grabbing built in to be excecuted within a hand's fingers worth of years", but "its time for deathcamps and actually i just want to kill everyone around me, both related and unrelated to the issue im solving. i actually just hate X group based on Y attribute as my primary motivator".
At the same time, with reference to my first paragraph; can this even be prevented without life-time jailing and/or executing every single person with valuation above 1+billion dollars?
FUCK i really do not want technofeudalism to become a feature at all permanent in any way
if i could eradicate all the spotifies (or just 1 of them) off of the world i would absolutely immediately hit that magical button, even if it caused a -80% stock market drop failure
i dont want capitalism to be destroyed by technofeudalism, but i think capitalism mightve already been destroyed in many first-world (cold-war-era-definition, for clarity) countries and the loss of capitalism is going to be much more long term in many places than i want to know.
i am truly afraid of these thoughts
i think the people who think that "youll own nothing and be happy" is a good feature, 99.9% of them think that the capitalist model of corporations would NOT change with the private person's ownership life changes. And i would sometimes think that way too years ago. "Less effort, less risk, less problems for the consumer", and simultaneously think "nothing changes for the workman, the entrepeneur, that status quo remains. capitalist corporation status quo stays same". And this seemed very ok to me, i couldnt understand why this was bad from an ethical stand point for the longest.
But what happens is that capitalist corporations will die too, because its more efficient to own nothing as a corporation as well. Including not owning your own workers, but using them as throwaway gig workers. The only workers you need, are the owners, to collect the money, and the workers necessary to maintain the services/actions that transfer money around. Capitalist corporations are no longer the strongest corporations in the world.
Spotify is not a capitalist corporation. It doesnt own its workers, it doesnt own its products, it leases them (from other non-capitalist middle-man corporations that may or may not own the product, but 0% certainly actually produce the product and 0% certainly do not own the workers that made the product/service). There is practically no wage labour happening in spotify. Rather, most artists see negative wage labour from using Spotify as a servicing middleman. Spotify has NO PRIVATE OWNERSHIP of most of its assets let alone it's product/service producing workers! Spotify is NOT directly profit motivated! it is Market share value motivated, by undercutting the market infinitely with infinitely repeating investor money from external sources. Spotify's goal is to destroy market competition, in which it mostly succeeds with. All this is one-to-one translateable to Amazon. Spotify does not make a profit. It holds power by force of market share. The price of spotify and their payouts, are in almost 0 ways affected by the market's competition. Spotify didnt make a profit ONCE for a SINGLE YEAR since 2006, until 2024 when it reached enough of a monopoly in certain world regions.
Amazon was the first to pioneer successfully this new way to do this. Most certainly, the extremeness of the success was probably not possible to be predicted by even jeff bezos himself. In the year 1994 he made amazon, and made not a profit until 2003. But his goal wasnt profit, but market share. Thanks to new technology, it could be done. And it wasnt a bad thing neccessarily at the time. But from a nice moderate thing, its become an extreme variant of it's initial set out goal by jeff bezos; Growth for growth's sake, with 0 care for initial profit for years, even decades, until X% of the market share was aquired. Now that formerly nice proficatble X%, is now a monopol worthy %.
so, to reiterate the very first paragraph:
IS IT POSSIBLE TO RETURN TO CAPITALISM BEFORE ITS TOO LATE? or must we suffer through a very long and intense decades long era of technofeudalism before, with the new generation of people growing up 20 years from now who can stop this, as all great generational leaps have required in past precedented history? an era of nothing but evil middle men
i watched a blog video from my favourite youtuber and it upset me and now i wrote this post into the ocean of messages in bottles
