Why don't people want to dedicate $20 per month (or 4 cups of coffee) in total for Nostr tools they use every day?
If we want freedom tech to succeed, the tools that make it possible need to be funded: relays like https://nostr.land, media hosts like https://nostr.build, clients like https://damus.io, etc.
Complaining about:
- why media hosting is expensive when it takes hours of work per day to keep running, and risks like CSAM content make it harder to maintain
- recurring relay fees when it takes constant work to keep up, and recurring server bills
- clients not being perfect while they require a lot of time to make work and optimize
doesn't help with anything
If everyone on Nostr making shit calculated how many hours they spent on nostr development and how much they actually profited, and compared that to if they got a job with their skillset, I would bet it's way higher than how much an average startup loses
So please, support your clients, relays, media hosts, and everything else you use
