My agent had me look at ~80 houses. I saw outlets in ceilings. I saw a basement entirely made of glazed tile. I saw a house owned by an avowed anarchist who rented the bedrooms and had deadbolts on every door. As Roy Batty said it, things you people wouldn't believe.
There is very little that compels one to get a permit, at least in #Seattle. Most people I know are irate about inspections as an expensive time wasting bother.
