HFCS is an industrial starch syrup, which acts very different than fructose. Oddly enough, HFCS doesnt contain much more fructose than cane sugar, so "high fructose" seems like a misnomer.
The big problem is the nutritionally unreported starches which delivers 4-5x the glycemic impact in the same amount of volume and sweetness. It's like drinking a rice smoothie alongside every soda.
Heavily subsidized, insanely industrialized, and unnatural. HFCS is often paired with seed oils and other additives in junk food.
