The response from the server is read as a UTF-8 stream. Here you can see the "protocol" in all its glory.
It makes absolutely no sense why they came up with this custom protocol instead of just using nicely delineated JSON objects. But oh well, we'll deal with that later.
The response has plain HTML in it. It's directly injected via innerHTML further below...
