Alecto (nprofile…h4sa) for quite some time I've worn a t-shirt with a somewhat wide neckline as a chemise, and honestly it worked. it does the job of protecting the corset and the body from each other, and nobody is going to see it anyway
(I mean, nobody is going to see it, right? insert appropriately mock-scandalized face here :D )
and I have a few long skirts that work just fine as petticoats for certain eras.
I can see how other kinds of underpinnings with a more structural role (and their lack of) can be more problematic, but maybe they can be mocked in some way too?
