I've not read the piece so I can't say I agree or disagree with it, but I believe democracy does not exist in the West *because* people have been convinced that it is about voting.
Sortition is what's needed to create democracy, but we're lazy, allowed it to be outsourced and lost democracy in the process.
#Sortition remains only for jury service, and even that is under threat in UK because it works.
