When did people stop raising their kids?
When I hear parents complain about how their kids never help out around the house or don’t do their homework or talk back to them, it blows my mind that they don’t see how that’s their own fault.
Rewards and consequences plus consistency equals kids that get on board.
At FIRST this isn’t easy: that’s the parenting part. But kids push against boundaries to see if they exist at all. They actually feel SAFER when they see they are there even if what you SEE is (temporary) resentment.
Eventually that very task or rule becomes normalized and the push back stops. You did it! YOU PARENTED!
