One of the best words is "prolepsis" - which basically means rhetorically conflating a potential future and the present - "change has arrived!" Thinking about paranoia related to our tech, repression, etc, it seems to me a lot of the conspiracy theories are actually just a (kinda accurate) form of prolepsis. Who knows if they are *actually* listening to our smart speakers, today. They totally *could* and have the incentive. Plus, they could retroactively change their mind and start at any time.
