#Mastodon, and the #Fediverse, are examples of the challenges, and opportunities, of real community building.
#Bluesky is getting a lot of positive shine, and even in its nascent state, performs better in certain areas, but in no way does it feel like the product of community.
Bluesky is fun now, but what happens when the messy reality of moderation, control, and capital enters the picture? Mastodon relies on community-run instances (I donate to mine), and the willingness and desire of people to put the work in.
When that time comes for Bluesky, who will step up to take responsibility? Will it find a similar federated governance model, or will it just become a Twitter clone?
