As I read the 21st chapter of Luke’s gospel, what the Lord said to His disciples stopped me in mid-sentence: “See to it that you are not misled” (Luke 21:8a).
You might think about taking a few minutes to read the entire 21st chapter for context. Nevertheless, the Lord’s warning here is worth our close attention. He would not have issued that warning to His disciples if it were not possible for them to be misled.
I also think it important for us to note that the apostle Paul wrote a similar warning to the Christians at Corinth: “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall.” (1 Corinthians 10:12)
The point? Christian! Stay close to Christ. Stay close by reading and reflecting on what He tells us between the covers of the Bible. Stay close in prayer. Stay close by obeying His commandments in all areas of life.
Our lives are a mere vapor that will one day vanish away.
“See to it,” Jesus warned, “that you are not misled.”
