Writing on X, insurance lawyer Colin Wynter KC said: "It has been said in public comment that money was offered to make the case go away & that Sandie, as she is entitled to do, refused to accept. She wants a ruling & the nation needs a ruling. She has potentially sacrificed a lot of money in favour of principle. A fabulous woman."
One social media user replied: "If that turns out to be true, she will have risen from heroine to absolute goddess".
Another said: "Wow. I already thought she was very brave, but she is actually true heroine material. Thank you Sandie".
Mr Wynter then qualified his comments by tweeting: "I have included the words 'in public comment' because offers of settlement are invariably made in confidence & 'without prejudice'. I am unable to verify such public comment. I would not disclose insider knowledge even if I were to have been privileged enough to have it."
Glasgow based lawyer Jonathan Brown, a member of the Faculty of Advocates, also offered his thoughts on the case on X.
He wrote: "My guess is they limp to the end of [Friday], hope the heat goes out of it a little and try to settle it in the gap between now and the continued hearing in the summer, if necessary getting separate representation for Dr Upton. What a disgraceful shambles."
But one admirer of the nurse declared: "She won't settle. The problem with bullying the little people is that they won't always play the game. Sandie Peggie will go down in history as the nurse who saved women employees the indignity of being forced to change with men. She really is a superhero(ine)".
