And I feel like the departments just seem to feel they have to give a Supervisor - or the Mayor - whatever they ask for, even if it makes no sense, or requires shifting resources from more meaningful/impactful work.
What I would like to see is a "fix it" team made up of key staff from a few agencies that took input from the public and from City Hall but then made staff level decisions - looking at the City as a whole - on what were the most appropriate and effective issues to address with the budget and resources for that month, and then took care of them.
Some of that might be with its own teams - getting DPW staff out to trim a tree or fix or sidewalk, or MTA staff to fix safe hit posts or touch up a red curb. Some of that might be actioning something for the agency - DPW to install curb cut, here's funding, get it done in 3 months; MTA to daylight this intersection, here's money, get it done in 3 months.
