FYI to anyone stuck in a red state hell hospital with a life-threatening obstetric problem: you can demand transfer to another hospital, including one out of state. The hospital may or may not be able to honor that request for a variety of logistical reasons, but particularly if you are near a blue state line, they might. See, they can’t transfer you to the same level of care on their own, but they can at your request (IF an accepting hospital can be found).
