In order to discredit opponents, the left has invented pseudo-medical names as homophobia, xenophobia, transphobia, etc. The entire cultural policy of the left has been built on the veiled suggestion that anyone who does not support leftist demands is abnormal. On the part of the right, it's the same: leftism in general is treated as a symptom of mental illness, or at least something that should be treated medically (preferably compulsorily).

The big difference in this regard between the West and the Soviets or countries like Iran however is that in the West the various ideas of "healing" society do not go (so far) beyond rhetoric. But in my opinion the political instinct remains basically the same.
