As Svetski (npub1dtg…up6m) points out, “Bitcoin is for the remnant.”
And as others like to say, “you get Bitcoin at the price you deserve.”

“But, well… look. Back when he started mocking Bitcoin, one Bitcoin cost around $6. Now, it costs $50,000.
I do not know if Gerard ever hedged his criticism with investment in case he was wrong, and perhaps if not he would say that standing on principle was more valuable than money. All I know is that if he had hedged just a bit as he jumped on the cutting edge of criticism of an emerging technology, he could have written his later anti-crypto books while living in luxury in early retirement.”
-Tracing Woodgrains on David Gerard’s long battle bemoaning Bitcoin.

quoting note1skq…46rmEver wonder WTf happened to Wikipedia? Ever wonder why so many pages became gate kept to hold an ideology-captured narrative?
Much of that lies in WikiKarens such as David Gerard.
David Gerard, author of “Attack of the 50 Foot Blockchain” is known (and often ignored) in the Bitcoin community for his obsessive hatred for everything based including Bitcoin, which he often conflates with “crypto.”
He’s also no fan of Nostr whining that “it requires you to sort out a cryptographic key pair before you can login,” instead endorsing Mastodon.
Ultimately Gerard held control for years over Wikipedia turning it into his own personal insane asylum. He bullied other editors, helped egg the doxxing of Scott Alexander among many things.
Substack writer Tracing Woodgrains dug into the story.
