Faith is the Greek word pistis from the root pisteo, meaning to be persuaded by evidence. It is passive, it happens to us and cannot be drummed up. My advice is to let the evidence do its work.
Every time I work from first principles I end up at this person of Jesus of Nazareth being by far the best explanation for what the bloody hell we are doing here! The arguments from cosmology, teleology , biology, morality and history are overwhelmingly persuasive to me.
