Microsoft is preparing to host OpenAI’s GPT-4.5 as early as next week, followed by GPT-5 in late May. GPT-4.5 (codenamed Orion) is OpenAI’s last non-chain-of-thought model, while GPT-5 will integrate OpenAI’s o3 reasoning model, aiming for a more unified AI experience.
These releases align with Microsoft Build in May, where AI announcements will be key. Microsoft is also developing its own Operator AI agent, similar to OpenAI's automation tool.
→ Microsoft will integrate these models into its AI ecosystem, with Copilot updates planned post-launch. OpenAI is also working to simplify model selection by unifying o-series and GPT-series.
→ Microsoft's Operator AI agent will automate web interactions, much like macros or autopilot systems.
→ Microsoft Build (May 19-21) will coincide with Google I/O, setting the stage for major AI announcements and competition.
