Playing it as a kid made me realise games weren't just running around eating pills or jumping on enemies for scores, but they could also tell deeper and more intricate stories, complete with drama, heroism, rises and falls, betrayal and brotherhood, and fleshed out personalities for characters that have their own goals.
I think I was big into RPGs because I was really just a book nerd who liked to look at screens and hit buttons.
