Likely an unpopular opinion, but I'm not the alt text police and do not want to be. It's great when people think to include alt text, and I appreciate it. But it isn't as though I don't have a way to retrieve the image description. I do. I think there are more important accessibility challenges I have to deal with than lack of alt text, by far.
