Russian cyberspies target #Android users with new #spyware
"BoneSpy" is typically delivered to victim's devices via malicious Telegram apps or impersonating other apps like Samsung Knox. It can collect information such as GPS and cellular location data, user's web browsing history, clipboard content, SMS messages, and contact info.
"PlainGnome" is a newer malware with the features of "BoneSpy" but aims to be stealthier by exfiltrating data when the device is considered idle.
Be careful when downloading apps on any app store (though these in particular were not found on the Google Play Store) OR when sideloading apps. It's good practice to only download the "official" version of communication apps linked from the project's official/confirmed website or repo.
