Exactly 😂 . We definitely let him have screen time. But typically we encourage him to do something more educational. He is a huge Lego nerd and when we discovered Minecraft he went down a rabbit hole. When he does have screen time (usually limited to at most an hour) he typically builds with his friends or watches YouTube videos about how to build different things.
He also plays guitar and knows to not even bother asking for a screen until he’s practiced for at least 20 minutes. Once that’s done he often watches YouTube guides on how to play new songs. Sometimes he just gets into it and plays for an hour.
So… I think the big difference is in quality of screen time. Passive versus active. And we see the same in Nostr and social media. Passive doom scrolling on Twitter versus active community building here. 🤙
