Add a drop to some water then use that. It's very potent so even with a drop or two you can really smell it. It's kind of like you are tricking the plant into thinking there was a forest fire.

I like to add a bit of seaweed as I have always found that helps too and in the last few years microbes too even if its just a the lactic acid rich water from kefir.
