Threads got 5m+ users in the first 4 hours - just broadcast on BBC news. So in a couple of days max it will dwarf Mastodon. I still find it hard to believe this is not going to be a very good thing for the Fediverse if Threads federates via activitypub or whatever other way it might have (I'm not a tech bro). Swamp/flood come to mind. Even tw*tter will be tiny in comparison.
