My computer workstation is in the shop and I'm just getting my data back onto a new temporary build so I haven't answered this until now.
I don't know why the relay-tester isn't doing auth. I think there were some tricky conditions where it isn't clear when to AUTH or how long to wait or something, and sometimes the auth fails because of it. The source code is available you could help figure out why it sometimes happens. Otherwise it may take me a few days to get back up to speed.
