I think I’m drawn to the SubGenius in a sarcastic existential groan of despair over the American Hausfrau compulsion to turn every genuine spiritual endeavor into a chintzy DIY project. It doesn’t matter what their inclination is, Christian, Mormon, Wiccan or whatever, they trot down to the Hobby Lobby and paint a horse shittily and if you say the craftsmanship is poor they can fall back on belief. Then everybody has to look at it until the original person dies and it gets thrown out.
