I took some time to check how things are going with the #Bitcoin plan of El Salvador after 3 years so that you don't have to.
Here is the short version:
- The Bitcoin strategy has so far generated a fiat profit of over $40 million.
- The average purchase price is $43,887.
- A few people successfully used Bitcoin to build a business.
- Usage is declining. According to a survey, only 12% of the local population in El Salvador used Bitcoin to pay for goods and services at least once in 2023. In 2022, usage was 24.4%.
- According to Nayib Bukele Bitcoin hasn't had the widespread adoption they hoped for.
