1998 was a shocker. It's easy to see why people panicked by the rapid temperature rise. But after that it fell right back. The way that they kept the ball rolling was to change the name from Global Warming to Climate change. This chart shows the steady increase of CO2 but there is no correlation between it and temperature change.
