Yes, of course there should be global state. It can be scary for some, of course, but the utility is undeniable for those that get it. Zooko's "triangle" is a red herring. So, I guess most will not know this, but DNS started as a small pet project by Jon Postel, and Tim though, yeah let's use this for the web. The thing is that it grew exponentially, and anything that gains that degree of success comes under pressure as it grows. The internet is full of such examples. Any small thing taken by nostr, if it grew to the size of DNS, would end up worse than DNS. The idea of global state is what ties the whole internet together. It's difficult to comprehand until it's easy to comprehend. And that's what makes web programming deceptively difficult. OTOH it's an opporutnity as we've achieved less that 1% of what's possible on nostr, with improved understanding, of advanced design patterns.
