Seeing politicians destroy democracy, society and the environment is maddening, but keep in mind they are in fact comforted in their POV by the results: they keep being reelected, or moving to higher paying positions in big companies. So why should they change anything if they keep getting rewarded? They're winning the game.
The solution is simple: stop electing sociopaths. Stop buying crap from dirtbags. Make them lose the game.
