what is so special about mastodon's handling of media that makes it behave all fucked up? anything thats not just been in my feed usually loads about 10% and hangs, then any further request to the same server for media hangs completely until a full minute later it 'unblocks' and i can load that image? its like getting caught in some kind of rate limiting filter
