I don’t like kitchen mono-task tools. A sous vide can cook anything so it’s a multi tasker. But the sous vide tubs, bags and other assorted accoutrements are rather useless.
I’ve had an Anova souse vide for years now and it’s worked great. Just the basic model. The Bluetooth one is prone to problems.
A very nice large stainless pot serves as my cooking tub as well as many other uses.
Standard ziplock bags and vacuum bags are already required to be BPA free. Special souse vide bags are a waste of money.
If I were asking for this I would ask for the basic souse vide and a really nice tri-ply, 12 qt, stock pot.
The souse vide will be a little over $100. The stock pot will come in between $250 and $400. The souse vide will last for years. The stock pot will last for generations.
