"But.... but.... Vivaldi Browser is not open source" 🙄
There are currently no better alternatives, because all the open source web browsers have swallowed the red corporation pill and are just like Mozilla now.
Opera Browser is owned by a Chinese marking company. Brave Browser's CEO is anti-LGBTQ+, sexist, and they too are loaded with ads, plus their search engine as they try to be the next "Google". Microsoft Edge is Microsoft's nonsense with ChatGTP and other spyware. Google Chrome is well, Google, need I say more.
Just because it is open source, does not mean it is better. There are computer viruses which are open source, and we're not better for it.
I'll stick with Vivaldi Browser.
"But... but... What about a soft-fork of Firefox?"
Firefox, or more to the point, Gecko, lost the browser wars, the moment they sold out.
Most of the forks, LibreWolf, for example, tend to break web pages, and then their users (and in the past, their developers) would try to pass the blame onto Firefox. When I was a pro-Firefox user, I disliked that because these forks only hurt Firefox, while relying on Firefox as their upstream.
I always thought, "can you be any more toxic and self-destructive?" 🤦♂️
That said, the whole point of a web browser is to view web pages and use online products and services. With less than a 3% market share, even governments are slowly leaving support for Firefox behind. I was willing to play "whack a mole" when I thought Firefox stood for something, but now that they've sold out, I no longer see the point and will focus on compatibility and ease of use. - Sorry, not sorry.
