Matty the Rad is right, but for all the wrong reasons. Small societies are great as communes. I am thinking of a couple dozen agreeable astronauts working together.

However, to scale a civilization you will need money to allocate resources. You can't trust people you don't know to honestly allocate resources. There is also that looming economic calculation problem that socialists will never solve.

So Matty the Red is just lost in dogma.
