"content": "An Easter parade on New York's Fifth Avenue, 1897. The curious-looking structure on the left is the Croton Reservoir, built 1837-42 to a neo-Egyptian design. America was not immune to the 'Egyptomania' that spread across the Western world in the 1700 and 1800s, with tombs, prisons, factories and various other buildings being constructed in an Egyptian style. The reservoir's granite walls were 50 feet high and 25 feet thick.
