For some time already avatars from remote servers have seriously deteriorated; they look like upscaled from few-pixel versions (see attached image). I'm on venera.social, but quick check of libranet's global feed shows same effect.
Usual dance (force reload, clearing cache, switching theme, fresh browser profile, trying Vivaldi instead of Firefox) did not help, so I suppose it may be something server-side?
Additionally, avatars of external contacts on Contacts page are completely gone, replaced by textual user names, and trying to open them (right-click, “show image”) results in Friendica's “not found” page.
Avatars of local users or RSS feeds seem unaffected.
