A set of game pieces made of animal bone, found in a man's grave in Lauchheim, dating back to the late 6th c. AD. Such game piece sets are very rare finds in Merovingian-era burials (late 5th to early 8th century). It appears that board games were not very common in the Frankish territories during that period.
