The sign I carried yesterday at a big march urging the University of Oregon to divest. Maybe the biggest sign there, and it prompted a few lovely conversations including a lengthy one with a Palestinian woman.
She pointed out there are problems trying to combine democracy and a state religion. At first she said no one else does that, but as we talked together we identified Iran (Islam), India (Hinduism), and Sri Lanka (Buddhism).
None seem promising. #democracy #palestine #israel #religion
