Unstable people do crazy stuff, though the culture shift may have influenced him. Pronouners, while crazy, are young, have a shared identity, have the blessing of the system and are willing to *do* things in the name of their beliefs, which IMO makes them a lot stronger/more attractive as an IRL subculture than the chud archipalego.
