When the news of Imam Khomeini's return to the country gained strength, the Bakhtiar government announced to all international airlines that they should not fly to Tehran in order to prevent the Imam's return. In addition, at the order of Bakhtiar, a large number of tanks and armored vehicles were stationed at Mehrabad Airport to prevent the Imam's entry into the country. Also, all airports in the country were closed for three days, as a result, Imam's travel to Tehran was delayed by two days due to the closure of the airports.
