An alleged sex offender who was born male but now identifies as a woman has appeared in court accused of raping a young girl. Maddison Wilson attended court proceedings wearing a pink headband and all-black clothing and spoke only to confirm her preferred pronouns of “she/her”. The transgender woman is accused of abusing the young child with “your penis”, according to the charge sheet. The 37-year-old appeared at Southampton magistrates’ court in Hampshire accused of historic sex offences against children dating back to 2011. Ms Wilson is accused of raping a girl under 13 and causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity, with both offences allegedly taking place in Hull, east Yorkshire in 2011. She also faces one count of sexual assault against a boy under 13 and one of causing or inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity, with these offences allegedly happening in Southampton between 2017 and 2020. The official court charge sheet identifies Ms Wilson as a female. The defendant, from Portsmouth, will appear at a crown court for a plea hearing later this month.
