Spent all night migrating my NAS from Alpine Linux to Debian. With this move my NAS finally supports initramfs-dropbear, so I can unlock the LUKS container from remote. I am also hoping to alleviate the constant file system errors that I have been getting under Alpine, though I have also now replaced the main SSD, perhaps it was just a broken one.
The third problem that Alpine had, was that it frequently broke during updates. Updating probably isn't that well tested on Alpine, since it's mainly used as a Container image, that are rebuilt instead of updated. I had to completely reinstall alpine about 3 times in the 4 years I have been running it on my server because something broke during an upgrade (initramfs, network stack etc.). With Debian I am hoping things are more stable.
