yeah, I quit social media for a couple of years. I just felt polluted all the time, and Meta/Twitter had everything to do with that.
I've remained active on Mastodon, mainly because (1) I restrict browsing to a curated list of folks I like; (2) I'm hardcore about muting; and (3) I only post art. In those confines, I can appreciate the actual connection aspect of social media.
But yeah—it's a hellscape, even here, and shutting off the firehose of the world is as self-care as it gets.
