“pre-AI information is the new pre-atomic steel”

For those who don’t know:

Steel without radioactive isotopes is incredibly rare nowadays because nuclear bomb testing throughout the 20th century released so many radioactive isotopes into the environment that it polluted all steel produced since then. The radiation in these isotopes interfere with precision measuring equipment that is made from steel, especially that which is often used in medical technology. Therefore it is necessary to find steel smelted prior to the 1950s to make this equipment, making that particular steel material as valuable as gold.

And so now it is with human-generated information on the Internet. The AI “bomb” went off, now everything is permanently polluted. Scrubbing all of our information clean of AI generated content will be prohibitively expensive for the foreseeable future.
