it's not specific to fedi, it comes from both Reddit, Tumblr and Twitter. It comes down to the fact that people just do not read bios, but also even if they do adults will still willingly flirt with children. I get complimenting them, I get making the occasional joke. I do not get sitting there and flirting with them nonstop, invading their spaces and so on.
